Peak Season
What does this policy do?
Peak season works like bank holidays. You choose the days only here, in Policies → Peak Season — on a calendar, single days or ranges, named if you like — and every service with a Peak season price (walks, visits, boarding, daycare and sits) charges that price on them. Each service’s peak price is set in that service’s Pricing → Peak Season tab, beside Bank Holiday. Bookings already made keep the price they were made at.
How to use it
Pick days on the calendar
"Single days" adds or removes one day at a time; "A range" takes a first and a last day. This is the only place peak days are chosen — the Services page just links here.
Suggest peak dates
Shows England’s typical school holidays and the busy bank holiday weekends. Nothing is added unless you click Add; Dismiss hides an idea for that year. School dates vary by council — check yours.
Name a period, or give it an uplift
"Add a peak period" (or the pencil on a period) sets its name, first and last day, which services it covers, and an optional % or £ uplift — only for boarding, daycare and sits with no peak season price, and never on a bank holiday that has your own bank holiday price. Walks and visits only ever charge their own peak season price. "Copy to next year" copies a period a year on.
Set the price
Services → open a service → Pricing → Peak Season tab, beside Bank Holiday — for walks, visits, boarding, daycare and sits. Per dog count, or per size (XL included). It applies to every client on peak days, including clients on a special rate. Until you have peak days, that tab says "No peak days yet" with a link back here.
Which price a day takes
Bank holiday › peak season › weekend › weekday. A bank holiday inside peak season is charged your bank holiday price (when you have set one) — not the peak price, and no uplift on top. The calendar marks those days BH and tells you.
Tips
Set the peak price on every service that should cost more. Walks and visits without a peak price keep their normal price; boarding, daycare and sits without one keep their normal price, or take a period’s % / £ uplift if you gave it one — except on a bank holiday with your own bank holiday price, which is charged as it is.
Use "Copy to next year" on a period, then check the dates: school holidays move.
Your clients see only each day’s price. The word "peak", the Peak mark on a calendar and the peak lines on a booking are shown to you and your team, never to clients.
