The community rules

Last updated 17 October 2026 · version community-2026-10-17-4

The community is for dog people to share, play and look out for each other. These rules cover all of it — Packs (posts, comments, photos, videos, chat and pack names), park posts and comments, and direct messages. By joining in you agree to them.

Our rules

  • You must be 18 or over. If we learn that someone is under 18, we pause their access to Packs.
  • Be kind. No bullying, harassment, threats, hate or abuse — towards people or animals.
  • Nothing illegal — including threats, stalking, scams and fraud, hate crime, terrorism, intimate images shared without consent, any sexual content involving a child, and cruelty to animals.
  • No sexual, violent or graphic content, nothing that encourages self-harm, suicide or an eating disorder, and no dangerous stunts or challenges — for people or for dogs.
  • Never share anyone's home address or exact location — including your own. No full postcodes, street addresses, map pins, coordinates or what3words: name the park or a landmark instead. We will not post a message that contains one.
  • Only post photos and videos you have the right to share. Never post a photo of someone else's child, or anyone's personal details, without their permission.
  • No spam, selling or scams.

How we keep Packs safe

  • Every post, comment, chat message, person and pack has Report. Only the community team sees who reported it.
  • Reports that may put someone at risk — something illegal, a home or exact location, sexual or violent content, cruelty to an animal, or someone under 18 — are looked at within 24 hours. Other reports within 3 days.
  • An automatic check reads the words of new pack posts, comments and chat messages for insults aimed at a person. It never blocks or removes anything — it puts the post in front of a person on the community team, who decides.
  • If something breaks these rules we can remove it, pause a pack, or pause someone's access to the community for 7 days, 30 days or until we lift it. We tell the person what was removed and why, and we tell the person who reported it what we decided.
  • If an intimate image of you is shared without your consent, report it as that — we take it down, and copies of it, within 48 hours at the latest.
  • We pass illegal content to the police where the law requires it or someone may be at risk, and we report child sexual abuse material to the National Crime Agency.
  • Mute hides someone from you. Block also stops them replying to or reacting to your posts. They are not told.
  • Packs are built to protect anyone under 18 who joins against these rules, as the Online Safety Act asks: a pack's posts and chat are for its members only, nobody's home or exact location is ever shown, there is no advertising and no profiling, levels and badges never go down, and anyone can be reported, muted or blocked.

Messages and parks

  • You choose who can message you — “Who can message me” in your privacy settings: Everyone, People I know (the default) or Nobody. People you know here are a business you use and its team — or, if you work for a business, its clients and your colleagues — your pack, and anyone you already have a conversation with.
  • A first message from anyone else waits under Requests. You are told once that someone wants to message you — never their words — and any photo stays covered until you tap it. Accept to reply, or Decline, Block or Report. If you decline, they see that you did not accept; they are not told if you block or report them, and they cannot see that you have read it until you accept.
  • You can report any message, and the person who sent it, from the conversation. You can report every park post and comment too. Only the community team sees who reported it.
  • Mute and Block work in messages and parks as they do in Packs. Someone you block cannot message you, or comment on, react to or join your park posts. Someone you mute or block leaves your messages and your park feed, and nothing they do notifies you. They are not told.
  • No full postcode, street address, coordinates, what3words or map link in a message, a park post or a comment — we will not send or post it. In parks, a meet-up's place and a lost dog's sightings are pinned on the map on purpose: pin a public place, never a home.
  • If we pause someone's access to the community, it stops them posting, commenting, reacting and sending new messages in parks and messages too. They can still read, report and block.

If you think we got it wrong

  • You can ask us to look again at a decision about your post, your message, your pack or your account — or at a report we did not act on — from Safety & blocked people, within 30 days. A person on the community team looks again and replies within 14 days. If we got it wrong, we put your post back or lift the pause.
  • To complain about anything else — including how we run the community or keep to these rules — write to support@mypetsitter.co.uk. You do not need an account to complain.

Who is responsible

  • The community — Packs, parks and direct messages — is run by MyPetSitter Ltd (company 17063676). The person accountable for keeping it safe is Marian-Viorel Petrisor, CEO & Founder. Write to support@mypetsitter.co.uk.
  • Reports and appeals are decided by our community moderator, Marian-Viorel Petrisor, who also covers as the backup until we name another moderator.
  • We keep a report and a copy of what was reported for 12 months after we decide it (6 months if no rule was broken), then delete it — longer only while the police need it. Our privacy notice explains what we keep and why.
  • These rules are also published at https://mypetsitter.co.uk/community-rules/, so anyone can read them, with or without an account.

If someone is in danger, call 999. To report online child sexual abuse, use CEOP: ceop.police.uk.
