PupBook

Your social-media-style communication hub — post updates, photos, and announcements that clients see in real time.

Keep clients connected with their pets

PupBook is the client-facing communication feature that sets your business apart. It works like a social media feed specifically for your boarding facility — you post updates about each dog's day, share photos and videos, send community announcements, and tag posts with moods and smart tags. Clients see these updates live in their dashboard, giving them peace of mind that their pet is happy, fed, exercised, and socialised. The Admin PupBook page gives you two views: "PupBooks" (individual client feeds where you post to specific clients) and "Community" (a shared feed visible to all clients). You can attach up to 5 photos or videos per post, add mood indicators, use smart tags for categorisation, and choose from post types like Walk Update, Feeding Update, Playtime, Naptime, and more.

How PupBook works for admins

The PupBook page has two tabs: "PupBooks" (Tab 0) for individual client feeds, and "Community" (Tab 1) for the shared business-wide feed.

PupBooks Tab: Shows all your clients as scrollable avatar bubbles at the top. Tap a client to open their feed. You'll see their pet names and all previous updates posted to their PupBook.

When you select a client, a composer appears where you can write an update specifically for their dog. Choose a post category (Walk Update, Feeding Update, Playtime, Naptime, Training, General Update, etc.) and the post gets colour-coded accordingly.

Attach up to 5 photos or videos per post. Images are automatically compressed to WebP format for fast loading. Videos are compressed to H.264 MP4 for optimal quality and speed. You can preview and remove attachments before posting.

Add a Mood indicator to each post (Happy 😊, Tired 😴, Excited 🥰, Playful 🎾, Content 😋, etc.) to give clients a quick emotional snapshot of how their pet is feeling.

Use Smart Tags (#GoodWalk, #PlayTime, #NapTime, #WellFed, #SocialButterfly, #TrainingDay, etc.) to categorise posts. Tags help clients filter their feed and let you track patterns across dogs.

Community Tab: Shows a shared feed visible to all clients. Use this for announcements (bank holiday hours, temporary closures, events), general posts, and community updates.

The Community composer lets you choose between "Announcement" (broadcasts with a megaphone icon, sent to all clients) and "Post" (general community content).

Posts are paginated with infinite scroll. As you scroll down, older posts load automatically — no "Next Page" buttons.

Each post shows the post type badge, pet name (for client-specific posts), timestamp, text content, mood, tags, and media attachments.

Clients see PupBook posts in their dashboard in real time. When you post an update, it appears on their device within seconds — no app notification needed, it's just there when they refresh.

You can search clients by name, email, or pet name to find them quickly when posting to individual PupBooks.

You write a walk update for Luna with photos

The post appears in Sarah's (Luna's owner) PupBook feed immediately. She sees "🐕 Walk Update" with your text, mood, photos, and tags. She can view it from the My Bookings section on her phone during her lunch break.

You post a bank holiday announcement

Every client in your system sees it in the Community tab. It's flagged with a 📢 Announcement badge in blue. Clients who check PupBook will see it prominently — no need for separate emails or texts.

You attach 3 photos to a feeding update

Images are compressed and uploaded to your storage automatically. The post shows thumbnails that clients can tap to view full-size. WebP compression means fast load times even on mobile data.

You set a mood of "Happy" on a playtime post

The mood badge appears on the post — clients see "😊 Happy" at a glance and know their dog is having a good time without reading the full text.

You tag a post with #SocialButterfly and #PlayTime

Tags appear as teal-coloured chips on the post. Over time, clients can see patterns — "Rosie always gets #SocialButterfly, she must love playing with other dogs." Tags also help you track engagement patterns across your business.

You search for "Biscuit" in the PupBooks tab

The client list filters instantly to show only Tom Watson (Biscuit's owner). Tap his avatar and you're straight into Biscuit's PupBook ready to post.

You upload a video of Rosie playing fetch

The video uploads with a progress bar showing percentage complete. Once finished, it appears in the post as a playable video. Clients can watch it directly in their PupBook feed.

You select a client and view their PupBook

Their feed shows all previous posts in chronological order — every walk update, feeding report, playtime photo, and training note you've ever posted for their pet. It's a complete visual diary of their dog's time with you.

Pro tips for PupBook engagement

Post at least one update per dog per day. Even a short "Luna had a great morning!" with a single photo makes a massive difference to client confidence. Clients who see daily updates are far more likely to rebook.

Photos are worth a thousand words — literally. A happy face photo of a dog does more for client retention than three paragraphs of text. Always try to include at least one image.

Use different post types to keep the feed interesting. Vary between Walk Updates, Feeding Updates, Playtime, and General Updates. A feed that's only walk updates gets monotonous.

Time your posts strategically. Mid-morning and early afternoon are when clients are most likely to check their phone. A 10am walk update and a 2pm playtime photo is the sweet spot.

Announcements are powerful but use them sparingly. Too many announcements and clients start ignoring them. Reserve them for genuinely important things: closures, events, policy changes.

Smart Tags create a searchable history. If a parent ever asks "how has Biscuit been socialising?", you can look back at posts tagged #SocialButterfly or #PlayTime to give a data-backed answer.

Video uploads can be large — keep them under 30 seconds for optimal client experience. A short clip of a dog playing is more engaging than a 5-minute raw footage dump.

When posting to a specific client's PupBook, address the pet by name: "Biscuit had an amazing time…" not "Your dog had an amazing time." It feels more personal and shows you know their pet.

Use the Mood feature consistently. Over time, clients see a pattern of 😊 Happy, 🥰 Excited, 😋 Content — this builds trust that their dog genuinely enjoys being with you.

At the end of a Boarding stay, write a comprehensive "farewell" update summarising the whole visit with your best photos. Clients love sharing these on their own social media — free marketing for your business.
