CONFIDENTIAL

Confidential: The Accountant

A classified preview of the Agency's new accounting arm. HMRC-ready. Reconciled to the penny. Currently in development.

📋 Agent Nine Lives

17 July 2026

Filed by: Agent Nine Lives, Deputy Director. Subject: The Accountant — internal operational module. Status: In development. Preview only. Distribution: Restricted.

The Agency does not, as a rule, brief on operations still in the field. This dispatch is an exception, on the grounds that operators asking "but who does the books" deserve an answer.

They deserve to know: we do.

🐱 Classified

The Accountant is a full internal accounting module. Not a bolt-on to a third party. Not a passthrough to QuickBooks. A first-class citizen of the platform, wired to the same booking, invoice, and payment data every operator is already using.

The preview above shows a mocked-up dashboard. Every panel on it is either shipped, under active construction, or specced for delivery inside the current cycle.

What the panels do, in plain English:

- Balance Sheet. Assets, liabilities, equity — reconciled to the penny, sourced from the platform's own ledger. Zero unclassified entries by design. - Reconciliation. Bank feeds match against booking payments, supplier bills, and manual entries automatically. HSBC, Wise, Stripe — every clearing account gets a green tick or an outstanding count. - Suppliers & Bills. Recurring bills, one-off bills, staff-as-supplier, use-of-home wizard. Due-this-week surfaces the moment the calendar rolls over. - Mileage. GPS-derived from the staff schedule and the client's address. HMRC AMAP rates applied automatically. Edit-locked so the audit trail holds. - Director's Loan Account. For pre-revenue founders paying company expenses personally — tracked as a proper DLA credit, unregulated, tax-free repayment when cash allows. - Use of Home. Wizard-calculated business share of household running costs — rooms × hours — with the HMRC £6/week flat-rate offered as an alternative.

Findings

  • *HMRC — the primary subject.** The Accountant is being built to be HMRC-ready across four returns:

  • VAT. Making Tax Digital — quarterly returns submitted directly, receipts stamped and evidenced.

  • Corporation Tax (CT600). Full iXBRL accounts + CT computation, filed to HMRC.

  • ITSA — Self-Assessment. For directors' personal returns, drafted from the DLA + salary + dividend records the platform already holds.

  • PAYE / RTI. Monthly Real Time Information submissions on the 22nd, for whichever cycle staff sit on.

  • Companies House filings — the CS01 Confirmation Statement, PSC register, and directors' register — are wired to the same source data. The paperwork does not diverge.

Why it matters to the operator.

A small pet-care business typically spends between £600 and £2,400 per year on a bookkeeper and an accountant, and re-enters the same numbers into two or three separate systems. The Accountant closes that loop. The numbers you booked, invoiced, and got paid for are the numbers you file.

Zero re-keying. Zero reconciliation drift. Zero "can you send me the spreadsheet again."

Field Note

The Agency does not consider this a marketing feature. It considers it structural. A business that trusts its own books is a business that grows on the numbers, not on the vibes.

Operational timeline.

Panels currently shipped: Balance Sheet snapshot, Suppliers, Bills & Payments (including recurring), Mileage (GPS + editable), Use of Home wizard, Transactions with CSV import, Director's Loan Account ledger, HMRC status tracker.

Panels in active construction: MTD VAT submission (validator quirk documented, retry pending), CT600 iXBRL export, ITSA drafting, PAYE RTI monthly run.

The Agency will not release a delivery date until every one has cleared internal review. The point of a classified preview is that the file is closed to inspection until it isn't.

> "We do not ship paperwork we cannot defend to an inspector." > — Director Meow, on the delivery bar

End of dispatch. Continue surveillance.
