🐱 STATION BRIEFING · MISSION #ABOUT

About the Agency

What The Cat's Intelligence is · who its agents are · and why it exists.

The Premise

For millennia, cats have observed dogs in silence. They have watched them chase, dig, greet strangers with an enthusiasm bordering on the reckless, and — from time to time — get themselves into the kind of trouble that could have been avoided with a slightly better filing system.

The Cat's Intelligence is the publication of a fictional Cat Intelligence Agency — a small, unimpressed, highly organised group of felines whose beat is the daily life of dogs and the people who love them. Its purpose is educational, practical, and occasionally decorative.

The Agency does not chase dogs. It writes about them. It also writes about the tools, laws, and small operational habits that keep a good dog in a good week.

Why It Exists

Every serious pet-care business needs, at some point, to say something to the world. About what it does, about how it does it, about what changed in the industry this month. Most either don't say it, or say it in the same corporate voice as everyone else.

The Agency takes a different approach. Every dispatch has a character to it — a fictional agent, a category, a tone. Product releases become Operations. Compliance briefings become Intelligence Reports. Field observations become Field Notes. Founder statements arrive as Director's Statements.

This isn't decoration. It's an editorial discipline. It forces every piece to answer the question: what kind of dispatch is this, and who is the right agent to file it?

The Agents

Five personalities carry the magazine between them. They rotate by beat, not by rank. Each has a voice, a sign-off, and — when they're on assignment — a fictional field station.

How to Read a Dispatch

Each article carries a category pill at the top — Operation Belly Rub, Mission Report, Intelligence Report, and so on. The category is the shape of the dispatch. A Mission Report is dry and factual. An Operation is playful. A Director's Statement is a founder-level, cats-off-the-record piece.

Underneath the pill you'll see the filing agent and the date. Every article is signed off in-character — "Continue surveillance." (Whiskers), "Filed under: [subject]. Nine Lives, Deputy Director." (Nine Lives), "Field report submitted by Agent Mittens." (Mittens), "— DM" (Director Meow).

Some dispatches contain a video hero. Some are text-only. Some include a classified callout — those are things the Agency considers important enough to break out of the flow. Findings callouts are the operational bullet lists. Field Notes are what an agent saw on the ground.

Two Voices

The Cat's Intelligence uses the full costume: agents, sign-offs, in-character asides, spy-file stamps. When the same information shows up inside the MyPetSitter app — as an in-app tip, a release-note toast, an onboarding hint — the costume is dropped. The app talks plainly.

The distinction is deliberate. The magazine is where the brand gets to have a personality. The app is where the operator gets their job done. Neither should compete with the other.

Why It Matters

A pet-care platform without a voice is a spreadsheet with a logo. A voice without a home is a Twitter account. The Agency is our way of doing both properly — a home for the voice, a voice for the home.

Every dispatch we publish becomes a page a customer can find on Google, a link a founder can share on LinkedIn, a talking point a support conversation can lean on. The magazine is not marketing bolted onto a product. It's part of the product.

🐱 Classified — for the record

"The Agency does not consider its work satire. It considers it filing. The dogs are the subject. The cats do the paperwork. The humans, if they read carefully, benefit from both."
